Fight Class: Kyokushin Bare Knuckle Fighting
Forget
the padded boxing and grappling gloves; Kyokushin Bare Knuckle Fighting is in a
league of its own! Starting
at the later time of 6.30pm, this class is for adults and mature teenagers. This
is a full on fighting fitness session. Focus of training is predominantly
fighting technique for full contact Kyokushin tournament fighting and street
wise "Tactical Self Defence".
Kyokushin
Karate is significantly different to most traditional forms of Karate.
Most styles of karate are non-contact; this means that techniques are pulled
just before or at the the point of contact. Kyokushin Karate is FULL-CONTACT, which means
nothing is pulled when kicking or striking an opponent in competition
conditions.
Also,
most fighting arts use protective equipment when in competitions such as
boxing gloves, helmets, chest guards, shin pads etc. Kyokushin tournament
fighters wear only a mouth guard and a cup. Kyokushin is Bare Knuckle
Fighting; therefore
the level of physical conditioning required to be a Kyokushin Tournament fighter
is significantly different when compared to other styles.
Not
everyone wants to be a tournament fighter, however the training principles,
disciplines and practice taught in this class are excellent ways to improve
fitness, confidence and self defence skills.
Training
sessions vary each evening and are event focused. During the build up to
tournaments, training is competition focused incorporating fight techniques, pad
and sparring practice, skipping, speed, power and endurance workouts. Fight
specific stretching and endurance training are integral elements of fight
training in this class.
Tactical
Self Defence training sessions include unarmed self defence, defence against
knife, stick and gun attacks. There's nothing "flowery or nice" about
this self defence, its easy to learn which means most students can build defence
skills from their first session. Our self defence is not a martial art which
takes years to master; instead it is based on a set of principles
that anyone can learn within a short period of time. Details of fighting
opportunities can be found here.
